Police in Esiama are investigating a violent armed robbery at a gold buying shop in Teleku Bokazo that left two attendants injured, one suspected robber dead, and another behind bars.

The attack happened on July 30, 2025, around 5:30 p.m. when six armed men, carrying AK-47s and machetes, stormed the shop and assaulted the staff. A quick police response led to a chase toward the Salman area, ending in a shootout.

During the pursuit, one suspect, Abdul Rahman, 34, was shot and later died at St Martin De Porres Hospital. Before passing, he identified some of his accomplices, including a man named Mohammed.

Acting on this lead, police arrested 25-year-old Mohammed Adamu on August 1. He’s currently assisting with the investigation.

At the crime scene and surrounding bush area, police recovered bullet casings, live rounds, BB cartridges, and motorbike keys—likely linked to the robbers’ escape.

Two victims of the robbery—Samuel Applah, 29, and Kiamena Nketiah, 45—are receiving treatment for machete and gunshot wounds, respectively.

Authorities say the hunt continues for the remaining gang members, and the Western Regional Police Command is urging the public to provide any useful information.
