Five people were shot when unidentified gunmen stormed a residence in the Binduri District of Ghana’s Upper East Region on Sunday, October 26.
Three of the victims — including a five-year-old child — died at the scene. Two others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital. One of them has been identified as George Bukari, manager of Maxx Empire Radio and TV, based in Binduri.
Residents say the shooting may be connected to the ongoing Bawku conflict, which has fuelled deadly attacks and displacement since 2021.
In a separate incident reported on the same day, a man believed to be mentally challenged was allegedly shot dead by military personnel at Daduri, a suburb of Bawku. The development has further escalated fears in the already volatile area.
Security officials have not yet issued an official statement on either incident.
Tensions remain high as residents call for stronger protection and swift investigations.
