It is believed that the suspect has already been indicted in Ghana for arms smuggling.

Istanbul police have detained a Ghanaian national who was attempting to smuggle pistols into the country from Turkey. A statement by the police on Monday said that 17 pistols that the suspect planned to smuggle were confiscated in an operation on June 17.

A report filed by pro-government daily, Daily Sabah indicates that the police received tipoff that the suspect would be sending a package containing pistols “via a parcel delivery service in Istanbul’s Fatih suburb.” Subsequently, the police examined the delivery service’s branch and discovered the unlicensed pistols wrapped in a black bag.

The police, aided by this discovery raided a Şişli house and arrested the suspect, currently identified as a 37-year-old W.O.

It is believed that the suspect has already been indicted in Ghana for arms smuggling.
