The High Court in Accra has set December 4, 2024, as the date for the jury to decide the fate of Daniel Asiedu, who is accused of murdering Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu, the late Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North.

This decision follows the conclusion of cross-examination by the state. The defense counsel also closed the case without calling any witnesses.

Asiedu, who has denied the nickname "Sexy Don Don," pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and robbery. He was previously acquitted of conspiracy to rob alongside Vincent Bosso.

During the final cross-examination on November 21, 2024, Principal State Attorney, Sefakor Batse confronted Asiedu with evidence connecting him to the crime.

The accused stated that police officers coerced him into holding certain items, such as a red cap and a green container, which were later used as evidence. The prosecution presented DNA evidence linked to these items, but Asiedu dismissed this, attributing it to police manipulation.

Mrs. Batse noted that Asiedu had given more than ten statements to the police, with a consistent acknowledgment of being present at the late MP’s residence. Asiedu disputed this, asserting that the statements were coerced and not reflective of the truth. He claimed to have authored only one genuine statement, while others were fabricated by the police.

The Prosecution alleged that Asiedu not only stabbed the late MP but also robbed him of his phones, which were reportedly found in Asiedu's possession. Asiedu denied this, claiming the phones were retrieved from another individual unrelated to him. He suggested that this individual was never brought to testify in court.

The Prosecution challenged Asiedu’s claim that his alias is "Gucci Young Star," rather than "Sexy Don Don," which he attributed to police officers. Asiedu offered to show the court a tattoo of his alleged nickname to prove his point. Regardless of the alias, the Prosecution emphasized evidence suggesting Asiedu’s involvement in the crime.

In her closing remarks, Mrs. Batse argued that Asiedu was at the late MP’s residence on or before February 8, 2016, and deliberately caused his death. Asiedu denied the allegations, maintaining his innocence and stating that the only time he visited the house was under police escort.

On December 4, 2024, the court, presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo will do her summing up after which the jury will decide the matter.
