The trial of Daniel Tuffuor, a 21-year-old final-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), accused of killing his girlfriend, Joana Deladem Yabani, has been adjourned to September 15, 2025.
Background
Tuffuor was arrested on February 27, 2025, after Joana’s lifeless body was found on the KNUST campus earlier that morning. University security officers, upon receiving reports of the incident, quickly notified the police.
Investigators later confirmed that the two were romantically involved at the time of the incident.
According to police findings, CCTV footage captured a man, alleged to be Tuffuor, strangling Joana during a heated altercation. This footage has formed a critical part of the prosecution’s case.
Tuffuor, who was first arraigned before the Prempeh District Court, has since remained in prison custody on remand.
Meanwhile, Joana has been buried and funeral rites completed, though police say investigations into the case are still ongoing.
