The Ghana Police Service has arrested Malcom Fraizer, also known as Nii Djan, in connection with the fatal assault of a man believed to be involved with his ex-wife. The arrest, carried out on July 1, follows the circulation of a video online that helped investigators track him down.
According to police, the deadly incident occurred on April 1, 2025, during a violent altercation between the suspect and the victim. During interrogation, Fraizer admitted to engaging the deceased in a physical fight, claiming he acted out of anger upon discovering the man was allegedly dating his former spouse.
The arrest was led by the Intelligence Unit of the National Operations Directorate (NOD) at the Police Headquarters. Officers used digital surveillance and social media content to locate Fraizer’s hideout—a reflection of how technology and online evidence are becoming powerful tools in modern policing.
Authorities say this tragic episode highlights how unresolved domestic tensions can spiral into deadly violence. While annual crime statistics for 2025 are not yet complete, previous data show that domestic disputes continue to be a serious issue in Ghana.
Fraizer is currently in custody and assisting with investigations. Under Ghanaian law, murder is a capital offence, punishable by life imprisonment or, in rare cases, the death penalty—though executions have not been carried out in recent years.
The police commend the swift use of digital evidence in this case but also note the ethical concerns surrounding the viral spread of sensitive footage. Nonetheless, the role of online platforms and citizen reporting played a crucial role in the breakthrough.
As the case unfolds, the public is watching closely for justice to be served and for broader conversations on domestic violence and emotional conflict resolution to be reignited.
