Emmanuel Opoku was put before the court on Friday, May 8, 2026, a day after his arrest.

A 22-year-old man who threatened police and military officers with death in a viral video has been convicted by the Jacobu District Court in the Ashanti Region.

Emmanuel Opoku was put before the court on Friday, May 8, 2026, a day after his arrest.

He was charged with threat of death after the video, which circulated widely on social media, drew the attention of the Ghana Police Service.

Opoku pleaded guilty when he appeared before Her Worship Eugenia Adobea.

The court convicted him on his own plea but deferred sentencing to June 9, 2026.

He has been remanded into prison custody until that date.

The case is expected to return to court on June 9, when the sentence will be delivered.
