A 27-year-old unemployed man has been sentenced to four years in prison by the Hohoe Circuit Court for stealing musical instruments from a church.

Mohammed Rafiu was convicted after pleading guilty to unlawful entry and theft.

He appeared before the court on Monday, June 8.

According to police, the incident happened on June 5, 2026, at the Faith International Ministry Church in Hohoe.

Rafiu was seen near the church carrying a sack and attempting to board a vehicle.

His conduct raised suspicion among some witnesses, who stopped him and asked to inspect the contents of the sack.

They found an amplifier, an equaliser, a mixer and a crossover machine inside.

The items were later identified as property of the church.

Inspector Felix Kwao, Public Relations Officer of the Command, said Rafiu was arrested and handed over to the Hohoe District Police Command.

He said the convict admitted the offence during investigations.

Inspector Kwao urged members of the public to report suspicious activities promptly to the police to enable swift action.
