Danlad, who introduced himself as a Task Force Officer with EOCO, is facing charges of unlawful discharge of a firearm without authority, possession of a firearm without lawful authority, and three counts of causing harm.

An Accra Circuit Court has ordered Mustapha Iddrisu Danlad into police custody after he allegedly fired shots during a fire outbreak at Madina Redco on August 3, injuring six people.

Danlad, who introduced himself as a Task Force Officer with EOCO, is facing charges of unlawful discharge of a firearm without authority, possession of a firearm without lawful authority, and three counts of causing harm.

He has pleaded not guilty and is set to reappear in court on September 25, 2025.

According to the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Daniel Danku, the complainant in the case is the Madina Divisional Police Command.

Investigators said the fire service was battling flames at Redco Flats around 1 p.m. when police officers moved in to assist. In the middle of the operation, Danlad reportedly got into an altercation with a group of people. Although the misunderstanding was resolved, he later returned armed with a pump-action gun.

Without provocation, Danlad allegedly began shooting, creating panic as residents fled from both the blaze and the gunfire. The pellets struck six people, who were rushed to hospital. Some were treated and discharged, while others were transferred to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for further care.

The prosecution told the court that Danlad went into hiding after the incident but was tracked down and arrested at Madina Redco on September 12 at about 5 a.m.
