A man accused of participating in a brazen daylight robbery at Bunkpurugu has been remanded into police custody by the Nalerigu District Court in the North East Region.
The suspect, identified as Waliu Fazazi, is alleged to have conspired with others, who are currently on the run, to steal GH¢300,000 from a mobile money operator on April 23, 2025.
Presenting the case, police investigators told the court that Fazazi had approached the vendor pretending to withdraw GH¢15,000, claiming that the funds were being transferred by his brother but were delayed due to a network hitch.
While the vendor was engaged with Fazazi, two masked individuals — one brandishing a firearm — appeared at the scene, demanded the vendor’s cash bag, and fired warning shots before escaping with the money on a motorbike.
Fazazi was brought before the court on Friday, April 25, where he was remanded to assist with ongoing investigations.
He is scheduled to make his next appearance on May 9, 2025.
