The attack occurred around 7:00 p.m. as Desmond was heading home after closing his shop. According to eyewitness Ruben Kumor, who spoke with Desmond minutes before the shooting, the vendor was ambushed and shot multiple times.

Desmond Adzah, a 21-year-old mobile money vendor, was fatally shot by suspected armed robbers on the evening of July 9 at Quarters Junction, Ngleshie Amanfro in the Ga South Municipality.

The attack occurred around 7:00 p.m. as Desmond was heading home after closing his shop. According to eyewitness Ruben Kumor, who spoke with Desmond minutes before the shooting, the vendor was ambushed and shot multiple times. Desmond was rushed to Ngleshie Amanfro Polyclinic but succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

Ruben expressed frustration over the absence of police patrols at night despite a nearby police station. “There’s hardly any night patrol. Even community police could help deter crime,” he lamented.

Desmond’s sister, Erica Adzah, believes her brother was deliberately targeted by individuals familiar to him. “He was followed, possibly by friends. They took his bag, but since he recognized them, they killed him,” she explained.

Desmond reportedly tried to seek shelter at their family home, but the gunfire forced relatives indoors.

The family and community are demanding thorough investigations and urgent improvements in local security to curb the increasing trend of violent crimes involving motorcycles. They urge authorities to take decisive action to protect innocent residents.
