Police in the Ashanti South region say they have arrested a man they believe is linked to a robbery in Obuasi that ended with the death of a 42-year-old miner.
The suspect, Rahman Adams, also known as Wale, was picked up on 18 January 2026 at Pomposo in what officers described as an intelligence-led operation.
According to police, the case stems from a residential attack on 12 December 2025 at Asonkore SSNIT Flats Down in Obuasi.
Investigators say the assailants allegedly forced entry by cutting through a burglar-proof window, then made off with GH¢2,600, a laptop, and a vehicle ignition key. The miner was assaulted during the incident and later died, police said.
At the scene, officers recovered items including hammers, machetes and cutters, according to the police account. The victim’s body was sent to the Obuasi Government Hospital mortuary for preservation and an autopsy.
Police say two other suspects — one identified only as A.T. and a Nigerian national — are still on the run and are believed to have played key roles in the robbery and killing.
The command says Rahman Adams is currently in custody and assisting with investigations, while efforts continue to track down the remaining suspects and bring them before the courts.
