Two men are in police custody after officers in the Central East Region intercepted a large haul of suspected Indian hemp at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District.
The suspects, identified as 30-year-old Eric Nkyeke and 28-year-old Francis Klu, were arrested at about 7:40 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025. Police say they were allegedly caught offloading 519 compressed parcels of the substance from a Toyota Hilux pick-up, registration number GS-6849-21.
The Nyanyano District Patrol Team discovered the drugs during a routine operation. The vehicle has been impounded, and the suspected narcotics secured as investigations continue.
In a statement, DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs for the Central East Regional Police Command, praised the officers for their swift and professional work.
He warned that anyone involved in drug trafficking would “face the full rigours of the law” and urged the public to report suspicious drug-related activities to the police.
