The Ghana Police Service has detained 89 individuals across the country for their involvement in various election-related offenses.

Out of these, 40 suspects are directly implicated in incidents of vandalism, theft, and the destruction of government properties, according to a statement by the Ghana Police Service.

During a press briefing on Monday, December 9, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs for the Ghana Police Service, disclosed, “So far, 89 suspects have been apprehended in connection with different offenses. Of these, 40 are linked to acts of vandalism, looting, and the destruction of state property. All those arrested are in custody and will be subjected to the legal process.”

ACP Ansah-Akrofi also issued a warning to deter others from engaging in violent activities, emphasizing that anyone involved in such actions would be arrested and prosecuted.

She added that the police have rolled out security measures to prevent further disturbances and are ready to implement additional strategies if needed to maintain order in the aftermath of the elections.
