In a statement dated Wednesday, 27 January, police said the arrests were made on 21 January 2026, around 10:00pm, after an intelligence-led operation by the Regional Anti-Robbery Unit in Kumasi.

Four men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery recorded at Kunsu in the Ashanti Region on 7 December 2025, the Ashanti Regional Police Command has said.

In a statement dated Wednesday, 27 January, police said the arrests were made on 21 January 2026, around 10:00pm, after an intelligence-led operation by the Regional Anti-Robbery Unit in Kumasi, supported by the Surveillance Unit of the National Operations Directorate (NOD) at Police Headquarters in Accra.

Police identified the suspects as:

Yahaya Siedu (34), also known as “Diamond”

Atta Israel (32), alias “Abode3/Stone”

Victor Gyan (26), known as “City Boy”

Stanley Wiafe Akanten (30), also called “Figo”

Investigators believe the four form part of a robbery network operating around Kunsu and nearby communities, linked to multiple attacks in the area.

A search of Yahaya Siedu’s room, police said, led to the recovery of items suspected to have been used in the robberies, including:

Two pump-action guns

Three cutlasses

Five mobile phones

22 BB cartridges

GH¢5,400 in cash

Police also said one of the guns retrieved — a Pardus shotgun — was reported stolen during the Kunsu–Mankranso road robbery on 7 December 2025.

Police said the suspects have admitted they planned robberies aimed at taking cash, gold concentrate and other valuables from miners.

They remain in custody and are assisting investigators.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command says it will continue operations to keep the region safe and maintain public security.
