The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man captured in a viral video recklessly discharging a firearm at the AfroFuture Festival held at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra on 28 December 2025.

In a statement issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Tuesday, 30 December, the Police confirmed that the Cyber Vetting Team at CID Headquarters picked up the suspect, identified as Abubakari Sadick, popularly known as “Cyborg”, at Adenta on 29 December.

According to the CID, Mr. Sadick allegedly discharged a high-calibre weapon during a meet-up with Nigerian musician Asake, in clear violation of the Firearms Act and the Public Order Act.

The weapon, identified as a Derya MK-12 firearm with registration number 22-GHA-1162, has been retrieved and secured as evidence.

Police say the suspect is currently in custody assisting with investigations and will be arraigned in due course.

The Service used the incident to reinforce its compliance posture on firearms control, stressing that the mere fact that a weapon is registered does not entitle its owner to deploy it in public spaces or at events.

The statement emphasised that firearm licences may be revoked, and offending individuals will face criminal charges where misuse is established, as part of efforts to maintain public safety at large events and across the wider security ecosystem.
