The General Overseer of Elohim International Ministry has been arrested after police accused him of making death threats against Vice-President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang in a video that spread online.

The suspect, Prophet William Gyimah, 49, was picked up on Tuesday, 7 April 2026, during what police described as an intelligence-led operation in Kasoa in the Central Region.

According to the Ghana Police Service, the arrest followed the circulation of footage on TikTok and other social media platforms in which the pastor allegedly issued the threats.

Police said the material was detected through routine social media surveillance by the Inspector-General’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team, which then moved to locate and arrest him.

After his arrest, Prophet Gyimah was transferred to the Special Investigations Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department for further enquiries.
