The operation, dubbed "Burn All Ghettos in Agona West," was carried out by the Agona Swedru District Police Command, led by ASP Vida Yenkey and District Crime Officer ASP Erica Naab.

Police in Agona Swedru, Central Region, have intensified their fight against drug abuse with the arrest of four individuals and the destruction of 10 suspected marijuana (wee) ghettos in a major swoop.

The operation, dubbed "Burn All Ghettos in Agona West," was carried out by the Agona Swedru District Police Command, led by ASP Vida Yenkey and District Crime Officer ASP Erica Naab. It targeted known drug hotspots across the Agona West Municipality.

According to ASP Yenkey, the primary aim of the operation was to curb youth involvement in drug use and dismantle criminal networks operating within the community.

Among those arrested were three men and one woman, all of whom are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

ASP Yenkey, speaking off-camera to Adom TV, appealed to residents, community leaders, and other stakeholders to support the police in sustaining the crackdown. She stressed that ongoing interference by some traditional authorities and assembly members has been a major challenge to law enforcement efforts.

“The police are determined to rid Agona West of drug dens and other criminal activity,” she said, adding that the success of the campaign depends heavily on cooperation from the community.

The police have pledged to continue similar operations in the coming weeks to maintain public safety and promote a drug-free environment in the municipality.
