Police in the Oti Region say they have seized a large haul of suspected narcotics after stopping a long trailer that looked empty from the outside.
The interception happened at Dambai on 10 February 2026, following intelligence-led operations, according to a police statement signed by DSP John Nchor, the Oti Regional Police Public Affairs Officer.
Officers stopped and searched a DAF long trailer with registration number GW 1943-09. Police said the vehicle appeared empty at first, but a deeper check showed the trailer had been altered.
Investigators found secret compartments under the trailer, sealed with six metal plates, the statement said. The compartments were opened in the presence of the suspect, Amidu Jubril, aged 40.
Inside, police said they discovered 4,000 parcels of compressed dried leaf material wrapped in yellow masking tape, believed to be narcotics.
The trailer has been impounded, and the items seized have been kept as exhibits for investigations. Jubril remains in custody and is assisting police.
The Oti Regional Police Command said it will continue to target drug trafficking networks in the region.
