The Central Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with the unauthorized transportation of electricity cables suspected to belong to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
Identified as Mohammed Sulemana and Iddrisu Basit, the suspects were serving as mates on an articulated truck when they were apprehended on April 1, 2025, at Gomoa Awombrew in the Central Region.
According to a police statement, the vehicle, bearing registration number GC 7410-11, was discovered parked in the area with 28 reels of ECG-branded cables onboard.
Representatives from ECG, led by Operations Officer Mr. David Ackom, later verified that the cables were indeed ECG property, but clarified that no delivery had been scheduled for that location.
The truck is currently being held under police watch at Gomoa Awombrew. Meanwhile, the search continues for the truck driver, Zibo Imoro, who reportedly fled and remains at large.
Investigations into the case are ongoing.
