Police in the Ashanti Region have opened investigations into the unexplained death of a 20-year-old Senegalese goalkeeper, identified as Cheith Toure.

The case came to light after a man known only as Issah reportedly deposited Toure’s body at the Ebenezer Mortuary in Tafo, Kumasi. Issah claimed to be the deceased’s brother.

According to police findings, Issah had earlier taken Toure to the Manhyia Government Hospital on October 16, 2025, in a critical condition. He allegedly told hospital staff that the young footballer had suffered multiple abdominal injuries in a road accident.

However, medical records show that Toure was brought in dead.

The Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has taken over the case to determine the actual cause and circumstances of the death.

Police are appealing to the public for information that may assist their inquiries. Individuals with credible details are encouraged to contact the Regional CID in Kumasi or reach out via hotlines 191, 18555, or 112. Information can also be shared directly with the investigating officer on 024 848 3741.

The Ghana Police Service says it is committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is served.
