A viral video involving a policewoman in the Afrancho/Akomadan District has triggered an internal investigation by the Ashanti North Regional Police Command.

The Command says it has identified the officer seen in the video and has begun steps to establish what happened.

The footage, which has been circulating on social media, allegedly shows conduct that has raised public concern about the officer’s behaviour.

In a statement issued on Sunday, July 5, 2026, the Police said the incident reportedly occurred on Friday, July 3.

The Command said investigators are working to determine the full facts and circumstances surrounding the matter.

It assured the public that the issue would be handled in line with the standards of the Ghana Police Service.

According to the statement, the Command remains committed to professionalism, discipline and accountability.

The Police said further updates would be provided as investigations progress.

The development comes amid growing public scrutiny of police conduct, especially where incidents involving officers are captured and shared widely online.
