The Ghana Police Service has arrested seven suspects in connection with the August 7, 2025, armed hijacking of a fuel tanker carrying 5,400 liters of fuel.

The arrests followed a coordinated snap-check operation across Greater Accra and the Eastern Region. The incident came to light when police at the Ablekuma Borkorborkor checkpoint intercepted a pickup truck whose passengers revealed they had been kidnapped during the hijacking near Nsawam.

Subsequent intelligence-led operations at Asikwa Junction near Bunso led to the recovery of the stolen tanker (GT 2493–20), another tanker (GN 804–13), a pumping machine, and a Volkswagen Golf linked to the suspects.

All suspects are in custody and will be arraigned as investigations continue. Police commended the swift, coordinated actions of the officers that led to the arrests.
