Six businessmen have been brought before the Circuit Court in Accra, presided over by Her Honour Basilia Adjei-Tawiah, in connection with a violent altercation that occurred in Agbogbloshie on August 1, 2025.
The accused—William Kwaku Marfo (45), Richmond Nana Adofo (30), Raphael Kyei (19), Atsu Amanya (55), Kofi Isaac (45), and Samuel Blankson (51)—all residents of the Agbogbloshie area, are facing multiple charges under the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
The accused are charged with the following:
Causing Harm: William Kwaku Marfo is alleged to have struck complainant Salifu Osman in the left eye with a pen drive, causing a cut below the eye.
Conspiracy to Commit Crime and Threat of Harm: All six men allegedly acted together with a common intent to inflict harm.
Threat of Harm: Each accused person is reported to have made verbal threats against Ohene Kwasi, including threats to stab or burn him, which allegedly instilled fear.
Chief Inspector Daniel Appiah-Ofori, who led the prosecution, narrated that the incident was the result of ongoing tensions between the accused and the complainants, Salifu Osman and Ohene Kwasi.
According to him, the confrontation began when Ohene Kwasi allegedly made provocative remarks about the death of William Marfo’s son. In response, Marfo reportedly attacked Osman and later returned with the other accused to confront Kwasi.
The group is said to have verbally abused and threatened Kwasi during the altercation. Following a police report, all six suspects were arrested and subsequently charged.
At the hearing, the court did not take the pleas of the accused persons. The matter has been adjourned to October 14, 2025, for further proceedings.
Each of the six accused was granted bail in the sum of GH¢10,000, with two sureties, one of whom must be justified. As part of their bail conditions, they are also required to report to the case investigator weekly until the case resumes.
