Sofo Azorka arrested over alleged assault in Akwatia, granted bail

According to a police statement signed by DSP David Fianko Okyere of the Eastern South Regional Command, Azorka was picked up in Tamale on September 10. Investigators have since taken his caution statement.
The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of Alhaji Sofo Azorka in connection with an alleged assault on Alhaji Masawudu Osman during the September 2, 2025 Akwatia by-election.
According to a police statement signed by DSP David Fianko Okyere of the Eastern South Regional Command, Azorka was picked up in Tamale on September 10. Investigators have since taken his caution statement.
He has been granted bail and is expected to report to the Eastern South Regional Police Command in Kyebi on September 16, 2025, where he will be arraigned before court.
The Police have assured the public that thorough investigations are underway and urged calm as the case progresses.
