A violent attack in the village of Kwame Nkyi in the Adansi South District of the Ashanti Region has left a 45-year-old farmer critically injured and the alleged attacker under police guard at a hospital.
The suspect, Kwame Abam, 43, is reported to have returned from his farm on the day of the incident, smoked what is believed to be marijuana in a nearby bush, and then, without provocation, assaulted a man known only as Jojo, who was asleep in front of his house.
Eyewitnesses say this is not the first time Abam, suspected to be a habitual marijuana user, has exhibited violent behaviour in the community.
Following the assault, enraged residents pursued and captured Abam, subjecting him to a severe beating before handing him over to the police. He sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the New Edubiase Government Hospital under police protection.
Jojo, the victim, was initially rushed to the Edubiase Government Hospital but was later transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi due to the severity of his condition.
