The convict, Christopher Duah, pleaded guilty to causing damage, unlawful entry and stealing and was convicted on his own plea by the judge, Jephther Appau.

An 18-year-old unemployed man has been sentenced to 48 months in prison by the Kwadaso Circuit Court after admitting to breaking into a home at Kronum-Kwapra in the Suame Municipality and stealing electrical wires valued at GH¢21,000.

The convict, Christopher Duah, pleaded guilty to causing damage, unlawful entry and stealing and was convicted on his own plea by the judge, Jephther Appau.

Two alleged accomplices, Musah Yunus, also known as Taller, and Sadam Hussein, pleaded not guilty to charges of dishonestly receiving and resisting arrest. They have been remanded into prison custody and are expected to reappear in court on 18 December 2025.

Prosecutor Chief Inspector David Opoku Kwabi told the court that the complainant, Antoannet Agyeiwaa, a businesswoman living at Kronum-Kwapra, returned from church at about 12:30 p.m. on 26 October 2025 to find her room ransacked.

Thieves had allegedly:

Broken through the ceiling

Damaged the burglar-proof window

Stolen electrical wires worth GH¢21,000

On 5 November 2025, Ms Agyeiwaa was informed that Duah had been arrested in connection with a similar offence at the Suame Police Station. Having already suspected him, she reported her own case there.

Duah was subsequently arrested and, in his caution statement, admitted stealing the wires and selling them to Musah and Sadam at Tafo Magazine. He told police he received GH¢780 from the two men for the items and later led officers to them.

According to the prosecution, one of the accomplices resisted arrest and escaped with the help of some friends during the initial police attempt to detain them.

They later surrendered to police and, in their own statements, admitted buying the wires from Duah but claimed they paid GH¢280, not GH¢780.

Following further investigations, all three were charged and brought before the Kwadaso Circuit Court, where Duah has now been jailed and his alleged receivers remain on remand awaiting trial.
