The Ghana Police Service has arrested ten foreign nationals believed to be involved in an elaborate cybercrime syndicate during a joint operation with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in Weija, located in the Greater Accra Region.
According to a police statement, the operation, led by the Cybercrime Unit, targeted suspected digital fraud activities based in the area. The suspects, made up of Chinese and Malaysian nationals, were taken into custody during the intelligence-driven raid.
Authorities say the suspects are currently being held as investigations continue into the scope and scale of the alleged cyber operations.
During the crackdown, officers recovered over 800 mobile phones, multiple computers, and a large cache of charging devices, all suspected to have been used in executing cyber-related crimes. The seized equipment has since been secured for detailed forensic examination to aid the ongoing probe.
The police emphasized that the operation reflects a broader national effort to dismantle sophisticated cybercrime networks and hold perpetrators accountable, regardless of their origin.
More updates are expected as investigations progress.
