The murder trial of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah has taken another dramatic twist following reports that one of the three suspects in the case has died after a short illness.

The family of the late officer confirmed the development, saying they were informed directly by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) handling the matter.

“Yesterday we went to court and I can confirm that the third suspect has passed on,” said Kwasi Amoako, the deceased officer’s brother, in an interview with Citi FM. “I was told by the Police CID in charge of the case. We thank God that our brother has started seeking justice for himself.”

The police are yet to issue an official statement, but the news is already raising fresh questions about how the case will move forward.

Background of the Case

The ordeal began on July 3, 2025, when Officer Amoah went missing after leaving home to meet a friend at Ashongman Estate. After nearly a week of searching, his charred body was found on July 9 at Abuom Junction near Kwabenya.

The gruesome discovery sparked a nationwide outcry and an urgent manhunt, culminating in the arrest of three suspects who were arraigned in court earlier this month.

Family’s Pursuit of Justice

For the Amoah family, the suspect’s death adds a new layer to an already painful saga. While they acknowledge the mystery surrounding the turn of events, they remain resolute in seeking full accountability for the officer’s brutal killing.

With the legal process now complicated by the loss of one accused person, the focus shifts back to the two remaining suspects and the court’s next steps in delivering justice.
