Three men in Kasoa have been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing their own children, after officials from the Awutu Senya East Municipal Education Directorate reported the matter to the Ghana Police Service.

According to the directorate, the victims – all girls – disclosed the alleged abuse to the Girl-Child Education and Guidance and Counselling coordinators, who then escalated the case to law enforcement. The girls’ reports, officials say, reflect a worrying rise in child abuse incidents within the municipality.

Police moved in swiftly and picked up all three fathers. The suspects are currently in custody and are said to be cooperating with ongoing investigations.

In a statement, the Municipal Education Directorate voiced concern that children’s rights are still being violated frequently in the area, and called for stronger collaboration among state institutions, schools, community leaders and civil society to better protect vulnerable children.

The directorate further noted that, although the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) operates 16 regional and 182 district offices nationwide, it does not yet have a presence in Awutu Senya East. This gap, they warned, leaves many victims and their families without convenient access to essential support and complaint mechanisms.
