The Awutu Bereku District Court has remanded three suspects in connection with the brutal murder of a 65-year-old security guard at an abandoned One-District-One-Factory (1D1F) site in Gomoa Akoti, Central Region. A fourth suspect, Nabil Mohammed, has been granted bail of GH¢50,000 with two sureties.

Presiding over the case, Her Ladyship Ms. Armah Adomako Kwarkye ordered the suspects—Samuel Larbie (28), a businessman, and Wisdom Sosu (32), a motor mechanic—into custody following a police investigation that linked them to a robbery that turned deadly.

According to police and prosecution reports, the incident occurred on June 30, 2025. The group, allegedly traveling from Fetteh Kakraba, stormed the factory site, tied up the security man—binding his legs, knees, and head—and suffocated him during the robbery.

The attackers made away with valuable items, including the deceased's Infinix phone (valued at GH¢1,800) and copper coils from two ECG transformers worth over GH¢250,000. The stolen phone was later traced to Nabil Mohammed, a phone dealer in Kasoa, who allegedly purchased it from the robbers.

Nabil is expected to reappear in court on August 18, 2025, while investigations continue to apprehend additional suspects involved in the crime.

Speaking after the court hearing, the victim's brother, Peter Dankwa, praised the police for their swift action and urged authorities to speed up efforts to bring the remaining culprits to justice.
