An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced social media personality David Kwodow Prah Afful, known online as Kwame Nkrumah II, to a seven-month jail term after he admitted guilt to charges of threat of death and offensive conduct likely to breach the peace.

The case stemmed from a viral TikTok livestream in which Afful was captured making menacing remarks. He claimed that if he had access to a cutlass or a firearm, he would attack the President, Members of Parliament, and other state officials.

During proceedings, Afful asked government representatives for forgiveness, apologising for his conduct.

Police investigators revealed that he was arrested on Saturday, September 13, at a hideout close to Kasoa Market around 2:20 p.m.

He had allegedly used the platform not only to issue death threats against politicians, but also to warn journalists and civil servants travelling in vehicles with green government plates.

In addition, he was said to have encouraged attacks on markets and urged others to commit similar acts of violence.

After his arrest, the Ghana Police Service reiterated its stance, stating:

“While it upholds freedom of speech, it will not tolerate statements that incite violence, insecurity, or public disorder.”
