An Accra Circuit Court has granted bail to a 36-year-old trader accused of attacking a man with a broken bottle.
The accused, Kwabena Owusu, was admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 with one surety after pleading not guilty to a charge of causing harm.
He is expected to return to court on 16 April 2026.
According to the prosecution, the complainant, Kwasi Boateng, reported to the police on 19 February 2026 with multiple deep wounds and alleged that Owusu had stabbed him during an incident.
Police Chief Inspector Belinda Asante told the court that Mr Boateng, who lives in Kasoa, arrived at the station at about 6:30 p.m. bleeding from the injuries.
He was issued with a medical form and sent for treatment.
The prosecution said Owusu, who describes himself as a trader and is said to be squatting at Kantamanto Market, was later arrested after the complainant returned from hospital with the endorsed medical report.
Police further told the court that, in his cautioned statement, the accused admitted the act.
After investigations, he was charged under Section 69 of the Criminal Code, 1960 (Act 29).
