The duo faces charges of causing financial loss to the state and willful misuse of public funds linked to the failed $2 million Accra Sky Train project.
The Accra High Court has scheduled the trial of former Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) board chairman, Prof. Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, and ex-CEO Solomon Asamoah for July 23, 2025.
The duo faces charges of causing financial loss to the state and willful misuse of public funds linked to the failed $2 million Accra Sky Train project.
Both accused have pleaded not guilty and were granted bail. On July 9, Prof. Ameyaw Akumfi’s legal team withdrew a motion seeking dismissal of the charges, leading Justice Comfort Tasiame to strike out the application.
The Attorney General had earlier requested a faster hearing schedule, pushing for a July 3 start, but the case was delayed when the defence did not appear. Solomon Asamoah’s new lawyer, Victoria Barth, requested additional time to study case files before trial.
The prosecution announced plans to call eight witnesses once the trial commences, marking the next phase in the high-profile case.
