The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the violent incidents that marred the parliamentary by-election in the Ablekuma North Constituency on July 11.
In a statement dated Wednesday, July 23, and signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the region, the suspects were named as Musah Muntari, a 46-year-old Station Manager at STC, and Ali Saeed, popularly known as Mboma, a 43-year-old businessman.
The two are currently assisting police with investigations into the reported disturbances and assaults that occurred at various polling centres during the re-run election.
The by-election, aimed at selecting a new parliamentary representative for the constituency, was overshadowed by chaos and violence, prompting public outcry and calls for accountability.
Reaffirming its commitment to protecting the democratic process, the Ghana Police Service urged the public to cooperate fully with law enforcement efforts and to report any credible information.
The statement also reminded citizens to use emergency hotlines 18555 and 191 to assist in maintaining peace and security across the region.
