The Western North Regional Police Command has arrested two men believed to be part of a group captured in a viral video firing guns at a funeral.
The suspects, identified as 41-year-old Frank Afoko and 31-year-old Kojo Agyapong, were also taken into custody for unlawfully possessing firearms.
According to a statement issued by Deputy Superintendent of Police Michael Nkekesi, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, the arrests were made on April 2, 2025, around 2:00 PM. The operation was carried out by officers from the Police Intelligence Department with support from the Formed Police Unit.
This development comes after police launched an investigation into a March 14, 2025, incident at Attakrom, near Bibiani, where individuals were seen in a widely circulated video shooting guns during a funeral without legal authorization.
"The suspects were questioned by the Regional Investigation Team, led by the Crime Officer, and confessed to being the individuals seen in the video," the statement confirmed.
Afoko and Agyapong are currently in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities are actively pursuing other suspects believed to be involved in the incident.
The Regional Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and order and called on the public to assist with information that could help track down the remaining individuals.
