Two men accused of robbing a Yango driver in Teshie have been granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court.

Eric Adjetey Adjei, 26, and Godwine Abbey, 21, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and robbery when they were arraigned before the court, presided over by Kwabena Kodua Obiri-Yeboah.

Each was admitted to bail of GH¢50,000 with two sureties, while prosecutors were ordered to file and serve their disclosures. The case will return to court on 3 March 2026.

According to the prosecution, the complainant, Samuel Coffie, was working as a ride-hailing driver in a Daihatsu Move on the morning of 11 August 2025 when the two accused allegedly requested a trip from Teshie Mobil towards the LEKMA Hospital area.

The court heard that as the car approached a section of the road in Teshie and the passengers prepared to alight, one of them allegedly grabbed a Remi A1 phone and GH¢1,500 from the driver.

Prosecutors said a struggle followed, leaving the driver in a gutter as the suspect fled with the items.

Residents are said to have detained the two men after an alarm was raised, with police intervening to prevent them from being attacked. They were taken to hospital, treated and later discharged.

The prosecution told the court the two men admitted the offence in their caution statements, a claim they now contest.
