Two individuals have been arrested for allegedly offering bribes in an attempt to manipulate the Senior High School (SHS) placement process, according to the Free SHS Secretariat.
The Deputy National Coordinator of the Secretariat, Dr. Belinda Glover, confirmed the arrests and cautioned the public against any efforts to influence school placements through illegal means.
She revealed that investigations uncovered individuals posing as parents who collected money from unsuspecting families, claiming they could secure preferred school placements. These suspects, she said, were handed over to the police along with the cash bribes they offered.
Dr. Glover emphasised that the Free SHS Secretariat has robust monitoring systems in place to detect and prevent manipulation of the placement process.
She reiterated that the Secretariat’s goal is to ensure a transparent, fair, and merit-based placement system for all students entering senior high school, free from corruption and undue influence.
