A robbery at the Brent Energy Filling Station at New Edubiase has ended in heavy prison sentences for two men convicted by the Bekwai Circuit Court.

Kwadwo Baffour, a 38-year-old driver, and Kwame Affisah, also known as Abedinago, were sentenced on June 15, 2026, after the court found them guilty of robbery.

The case arose from an attack on the filling station in the early hours of August 17, 2024.

The prosecution said the two men arrived at the station armed with pump-action guns and attacked the fuel attendants who were on duty.

They were accused of taking GH¢2,500 in cash from the station.

They also made away with other personal items valued at about GH¢200,000.

The court convicted both men on two counts of robbery under Section 149 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960.

Presiding Judge Isaac Appiatu sentenced Baffour to 20 years’ imprisonment on each count.

Affisah, 36, received 30 years’ imprisonment on each count.

The sentences are to run concurrently.

At the time of the judgment, Affisah was already serving a seven-year sentence at the Kumasi Central Prison in connection with a separate offence.

Both convicts are serving their sentences at the Kumasi Central Prison.
