The accused, Charles Antwi, also known as Kojo Fosu, a 49-year-old carpenter, and Francis Abobi, alias Seaman, a 41-year-old farmer, pleaded guilty and were convicted accordingly by the court.

A Circuit Court in Asante Akropong, located in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District, has sentenced two individuals to ten years in prison each after they were found guilty of theft, unlawful possession of firearms, conspiracy, and property damage in Sokoban, a suburb of Kumasi.

The accused, Charles Antwi, also known as Kojo Fosu, a 49-year-old carpenter, and Francis Abobi, alias Seaman, a 41-year-old farmer, pleaded guilty and were convicted accordingly by the court, which was presided over by Mrs. Gloria Mensah Bonsu.

During the trial, Police Detective Inspector Kwame Boakye Agyemang explained that the case was brought to the authorities by the complainant, Ama Boakyewaa Asomani, a teacher residing in Kumasi’s Suame-Anomangye area. She reported that unknown individuals had broken into her home in Sokoban Ampabame.

According to the prosecution, the burglary occurred on January 28, 2025, around 7:00 PM. Upon returning home, the complainant discovered her door had been forced open, and several valuable items were missing. The stolen goods included a 42-inch television valued at GH¢7,800, a Samsung A52 smartphone worth GH¢3,500, and a CCTV hard drive.

Following her report, the Ashanti Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of the two suspects at their hideout in Effiduase-Asamang, within the Sekyere East District.

A search of their premises uncovered various burglary tools, including a cutlass, a pinch bar, a glass cutter, two pliers, two pistols, a cartridge, and three mobile phones.
