The Asante Abuakwa Circuit Court has remanded two 18-year-olds into prison custody for allegedly attacking and robbing two brothers at Abuakwa-Sepaase in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality.

The accused, Albert Mensah, unemployed, and Bismark Yeboah, an excavator operator’s apprentice, pleaded not guilty and are expected back in court on September 12, 2025.

According to Police Chief Inspector Evans Ayimbisa, the incident occurred just after midnight on August 18. The victims, brothers Alex and Blessing Duah, who both work as tilers and tricycle operators, were negotiating fares with two women when the suspects appeared.

The prosecution said the young men confronted the brothers, forcibly seized Blessing’s iPhone 11 Pro Max valued at GH¢2,600 along with GH¢800 in cash, and attempted to rob Alex as well. When Alex resisted, Mensah allegedly pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the back.

Alex was rushed to the Abuakwa Polyclinic and later transferred to the Kwadaso SDA Hospital, where he received treatment and was discharged after two days.

Following the report to police, Mensah was arrested at his home in Sepaase. News of his arrest prompted the family of Yeboah to hand him over to the authorities. Both suspects reportedly admitted their roles during interrogation.

The two have since been charged with robbery and causing harm and remain in custody as investigations continue.
