Raphael Mensah, the man recently declared wanted by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) over alleged corruption-related offences, has returned to Ghana and turned himself in to authorities.

Mensah was reportedly outside the country when the OSP issued a public notice for his arrest on July 8, 2025. The notice identified him as a central figure in an ongoing probe into the misuse of public office for personal gain.

After voluntarily reporting to the OSP, Mensah was arraigned before court, where he was granted bail under stringent conditions. The court set bail at GHS 100,000 with two sureties. As part of the conditions, he must surrender his passport and report to the OSP every two weeks.

The allegations against him fall under sections 20(2) and 179C(a) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), which deal with aiding and abetting the abuse of public office.

This latest development comes after the OSP urged the public to help trace Mensah’s whereabouts, offering contact channels for leads. His unexpected return signals progress in a case that has attracted national interest and added momentum to Ghana’s broader anti-corruption efforts.

The OSP has emphasized that Mensah, like all suspects, is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Investigations remain ongoing.
